Small-Group Aurora Chase by Minivan

A calm, personal search for the northern lights

Experience the northern lights away from crowds on a small-group aurora chase guided by a local Arctic guide based in Kiruna.

This is not a fixed-route bus tour. Each evening is planned around real-time weather, cloud cover, and aurora activity, allowing us to move freely and patiently in search of clear skies and dark locations.

Overview

• Small-group aurora chase by minivan • Guided by a local Arctic guide • Flexible route based on conditions • Focus on atmosphere, safety, and realism

The northern lights are never guaranteed — but the experience is designed to be calm, personal, and unrushed.

The experience

After pick-up from Kiruna, we head into the surrounding wilderness, adjusting direction and distance as the night develops. Stops may include frozen lakes, quiet forest roads, or open landscapes far from artificial light.

If the aurora appears, we take our time. If it fades, we wait or move on. Hot drinks are prepared, and when conditions allow, a small fire may be lit.

This experience is about being present in the Arctic night — not ticking a box.

Small groups

Group sizes are intentionally limited to maintain flexibility and atmosphere.

• Maximum of 6 guests • Personal guidance throughout the night • No crowds or rushing

Pick-up & transport

Pick-up and drop-off are included from central Kiruna and selected accommodations.

Transport is an essential part of Arctic travel. Long distances, cold temperatures, and changing conditions mean having everything handled allows guests to relax and focus fully on the experience.
